on may 5, 2011, we picked up our baby: a 1985 volkswagon vanagon westfalia camper.
we don't have an actual baby, so we decided to pour all our time, money and effort into a 27-year-old vehicle.
these are our summer stories, travels, pictures, projects, adventures, lusted-after accessories and anything else that's fit to print.

steps to a successful vanagon vacation:
1. load bike(s). check under van for…problems?
2. pick up steve (80% of the time).
3. pick up additional guest (carolyn, this time) and guest’s things. pile things in van.
4. drive drive drive!
5. arrive. pop top. relax.

how much food can 12 people eat on one camping trip? a lot.
this is definitely not a comprehensive list of all the things we ate at killbear provincial park last weekend:
fajitas with chicken, refried beans, roasted peppers and onions, salsa, sour cream and ringolos; greek chips; carrots; hummus; chipotle dip; pancakes with fried apples and ginger; sausages with fried peppers and fennel, fried onions and fried mushrooms; dairy milk bars; caramilk bars; potato and leek soup; make-your-own sandwiches with brie, avocado, tomatoes, onion, cheddar, peameal bacon, regular bacon, salami, chicken and turkey; roasted potatoes (x2 or 3?); s’mores; licorice; hot dogs on wonderbread; cool ranch doritos.
also, a raccoon snuck into our van. it ate these things:
tandoori chips; tortillas; one hot dog bun.
